A very interesting exercise Tina. In summary, what happened was I iterated between the two forms till I was happy(ish), refining as I went. In detail, first I wrote a gogyohka:

after so long / a little rain / the earth / breathes / again

then a haiku:

rain has cleared the air / and a thousand fragrances / beckon to the bees

then fragments of several more gogyohka, learning from the haiku, then the final haiku learning from the gogyohka, then a small refinement to get the final gogyohka. Fascinating!
